IMUS CITY, Cavite—The city government of Imus on November 19 started giving free rides to Imuseños, especially senior citizens, pregnant moms and women, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and students from Imus to Baclaran.
City Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi and Vice Mayor Arnel M. Cantimbuhan launched the free- ride project, dubbed Gender and Development (GAD) bus program, “to provide convenience to our constituents, especially during the morning rush hours.”
The project, a first in the province of Cavite, initially has four bus units, three of which are provided by San Agustin Bus Co. and another unit from the city government.
The free ride runs point-to-point —that is from its pick-up areas in Imus straight to Baclaran.
For easier recognition on the buses covered under this project, the buses are marked with tarpaulin signage “GAD Bus Libreng Sakay,” and are found in the four pick-up locations in Anabu Kostal (Puregold), Anabu Doyetes (UCCP), Patindig Araw (Impreza) and Toll Bridge (680 Building).
The program runs from November 19 until December 31 this year. Each bus is targeted to have two trips starting 6 to 9 a.m. daily.
