Heart Evangelista had been waiting for many years to get pregnant after she married politician Francis Escudero in early 2015. Just over a week ago, she made an announcement on her social-media account that she and her husband are finally expecting a baby. And a few days after that, she posted a sonogram showing two embryos, one bigger than the other.
Part of her post read: “We found out that I had a twin pregnancy. Unfortunately, one of the embryos was smaller and behind in terms of development, and so we lost one of the twins. Our hearts were heavy at the thought, but we knew we had to focus on the good.” Heart’s husband also had fraternal twins, Chesi and Quino, now almost 10 years old, from his previous wife.
At the moment, Mrs. Escudero is taking it easy, and she still craves for cheese ice cream, egg whites and mayonnaise. Despite losing the smaller embryo, Evangelista knows that she will have a baby to look forward to in the last quarter of the year.
“I’m excited to be a mom. I pray that all will be well and I will have a smooth pregnancy. I’m confident that I will be a good mom!”
ENJOYING HIS HIATUS
Another entertainment personality who has been taking it easy is John Lloyd Cruz, who has just gotten back from a quick beach holiday in posh Amanpulo in Palawan.
With his self-declared hiatus from the showbiz jungle, Cruz seems to be enjoying his peace and quiet with partner Ellen Adarna, and pursuing his passion for art. He was last sighted at an art exhibit in a Quezon City arts venue before he flew to Palawan to enjoy the beach, the sunrise and the sunset, the food and drinks, and just to be with his paramour, who has successfully kept mum about her reported pregnancy.
Let’s give it to Cruz, because love, like happiness, is always a personal decision. He might not have any work as an actor but he has amassed more than enough savings from working for many years to be able to support himself and those that he loves during this leave of absence.
To some, especially his detractors and those who earn from him, his cup might be running almost empty, but to Cruz, this is the life he has chosen to pursue at the moment, and all his decisions come only from himself and no one else. In his heart of hearts, he seems happy, and he has found the peace that he has long been secretly wishing for. And that’s more than overflowing and priceless.
ANOTHER MOVIE COMEBACK
Claudine Barretto is bent on making a successful comeback. She recently agreed to star in a movie to be directed by breakthrough filmmaker Sigrid Bernardo, the same director behind the highly successful movie Kita Kita, the surprise box-office winner last year.
Reports have it that part of Barretto’s new movie will be shot on location in France during the coming European summer, and that her mother studio is still on the casting phase at the moment, making sure that Barretto will only get the best and most reliable actors to support her, and to ensure the project would be not only a critical success but also a commercial hit.
“I’m very excited to start work on the movie. I miss acting. I miss working with brilliant creative people,” she said. Barretto’s last cinema outing was more than three years ago, in the movie Etiquette for Mistresses, which performed below expectations. We sincerely hope this new project will give her the spotlight and remind film audiences that she is a naturally gifted actor who deserves many chances, despite the wrong decisions she’s made along the way.
Let’s all hope that she plays her cards well this time around.
