THE awards-giving event by consultancy firm Chalre Associates Inc. would recognize business leaders who have bolstered the country’s reputation as an emerging business hub in Asia.
According to President and CEO Rebecca Bustamante, the Asia CEO Awards event would also promote the Philippines as the future powerhouse of global decision-makers.
Arch. Jun Palafox, one of the judges in this year’s awards, said he always looks forward to every Asia CEO event.
We “share the same goals and objectives to prove that Filipinos can be globally competitive,” said Palafox, principal architect of Palafox Associates Inc.
“It is a great initiative by the organizers because, even in judging, we are recognizing those who are ahead in their own fields and we go under rigid process of accepting nominations and selections,” he added.
Other distinguished judges include Bernie Villegas, University of Asia and the Pacific professor and economist; Don Felbaum, former president of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines; Edward Chang, president of the Korean Chamber of Commerce Philippines; Oscar Sañez, San Miguel Foods vice president for International Operations; and Chalre Associates Chairman Richard Mills.
Jovy Fernandez, first vice president and head of the PLDT Group, said in a news briefing that his company is “determined to pursue economic progress through leadership excellence.
“With your continued support, we believe that we can do so much more in raising the level of professionalism and good governance in the business sector,” Bustamante told reporters on April 13.
Chalre Associates documents said the awards is open to any individual or organization, who has contributed to the economic and international development in the Association of Southeast Asia region.
A candidate may be a Filipino or an expatriate, who must have a strong connection to the country and possesses leadership excellence, it added.
This year the award-giving body would launch its newest award category “OFWs’ Company of the Year.”
It would be given “to private and public corporations that implement specific programs that produce a positive and significant effect to overseas Filipino workers and their families.”
Nominations officially open on May 1.
