DRIVEN by the entrepreneurial spirit of its founding chairman, Dr. Gerardo “Gerry” Malvar Castillo, Allegra’s Kitchen opened its first store on September 8, 2015.
The restaurant is along the Lifestyle Strip of Santo Tomas, Batangas.
Dr. Gerry has always wanted to put up something of his own concoction on top of venturing with franchising businesses of other food outlets. He wanted to reinvent the best burger he has been accustomed to since he was a child. Allegra’s Kitchen was born in memory of “Allegra”—a sweet, loving golden retriever that was a special companion to Dr. Gerry for 15 years. Allegra is derived from the Italian word, which means bright and cheerful. Dr. Gerry has decided to put up his own burger place and adapted the name of his favorite pal, Allegra. With the help of dedicated individuals, memories of Allegra became a reality through Allegra’s Kitchen.
It grew so quick that they now have five branches in less than a couple of years. Its new addition are in Lipa, Batangas; Batangas City, Santa Rosa, Laguna; and San Pablo, Laguna.
Allegra’s first celebrity endorser Enzo Pineda, who is the newest member of Kapamilya Network, will be busy with several store visits, attending outlets and spearheading the promotional campaign “Ang Puso ko Nasa Allegra”. “I love food, and I am honored to be chosen as the ambassador of Allegra’s Kitchen,” Pineda said.
“Besides tasting delicious food, knowing the history of Allegra’s Kitchen and meeting people behind its success were some of the best moments for me. I’m proud to be part of a family that focuses on providing good food and good service to its customers. Definitely, it’s always good food for good times in Allegra’s Kitchen,” Pineda added.
No doubt, Pineda is into good food, and he gladly share this passion to his family. “Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies. I love to cook for my family during my spare time.”
“My ultimate favorite is definitely the Allegra’s double-decker burger.” It is made from 100-percent pure beef patty and paired up with fresh ingredients. Super yummy! And, for dessert, my choice is the Nutella overload freak shake. It speaks for itself, and it has the best ingredients for a shake,” Pineda said.
Most of our ingredients are sourced locally, shared Glen Mayhew Jr., assistant manager for sales and marketing. “We do have our own commissary in Batangas, and that’s why we can maintain the quality of our food. Our baby back ribs, however, are extra special, since we import ibérico black pigs in Spain, known to be the best source quality of meat. Aside from baby back ribs, Allegra’s Kitchen’s specialties are burgers, pastas and steaks served in ambience created by its rustic style and bright-colored interiors that makes for an inviting and relaxing restaurant.
“We have very good feedback from our customers, mostly working professionals and students who are food enthusiasts, so we are definitely expanding our operations. We plan to open 10 branches this year. Allegra’s Kitchen is also open for franchising. The first franchise store was opened in SM San Lazaro. We are also looking for highly motivated and hands-on operators or managers who share the same values with Allegra’s kitchen, and who are committed to quality and service. With our expertise and full support, for sure, they will be having good times when they become a franchisee of Allegra’s Kitchen, Mayhew said.
