TO support the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) campaign against all forms of illegal contractualization, Globe Telecom Inc. is talking with its accredited third-party vendor-partners on the regularization of all contractual employees.
Globe Legal Counsel Froilan Castelo said his group is pushing for the regularization of the employees of its third-party vendors, as this is in line with the group’s core values.
“As a sustainable organization, one of our purposes is to ensure our people are treated right. Thus, we have requested all our accredited third-party vendor-partners providing us staff augmentation and managed services to issue the regularization papers of their employees to ensure everything is in accordance with labor laws,” he said.
Globe is working closely with the DOLE to comply with its requirements involving its operations. The government agency has given the company until May 16 to address any manpower-related concerns.
The DOLE is actively pursuing the regularization of workers in response to President Duterte’s campaign promise to end the practice of continuous job contractualization.
In a different development, Globe announced it has signed a 10-year, P8-billion term loan facility with BDO Unibank Inc., proceeds of which will be used to finance the company’s capital expenditures and general corporate requirements.
Globe has set $750 million in capital outlays for 2017, of which a majority will be invested in data-related projects.
Last year Globe spent $772 million in capital to further enhance its network and coverage.
