From December 25, 2018, to January 1, 2019, witness “Magic on Ice,” an extravagant show that combines circus, figure skating, magic, and grand Illusion at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Created by Steve Wheeler, “Magic on Ice” is a new genre of entertainment featuring the elegance and beauty of ice skating, the world of grand illusions, and the intrigue of magic. The show combines the speed and elegance, the power and beauty of ice skating with big, theatrical magic illusions. “The audience will see lightning-fast appearances and vanishes, beautiful levitations, death-defying escapes, as well as some fun interactive comedy numbers that involve members of the audience,” Wheeler said.
It happens in a frozen magical world that comes to life when the Voyager (Steve) enters it with a skating ensemble called The Seekers. They encounter the Ice Angel (Tracey Lynn Wheeler, Steve’s wife); and her counterpart, the dark and mysterious Raven (four-time Estonian National Champion and Olympic figure skater Maria Sergejeva). Other characters are called The Reliance, an ice skating duo that performs incredible feats of strength, speed and skill. And then, the fun family of abstract silver tubes called The Slinkies.
The world-renowned ice skating illusion spectacular is coming to the Philippines for the first time. But it has already captivated millions of its viewers – young and old – across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and has entertained audiences in over 200 cities around the world including Las Vegas, New York, Germany, Mexico, Korea and Abu Dhabi.
Make your Christmas merry and white as frozen snow as the Big Dome welcomes the return of an ice extravaganza to its hallowed halls. The iconic venue has, after all, been the home of enthralling ice spectacles from the days of “Holiday On Ice” in the early ‘60s.
“Magic On Ice” at the Big Dome will be a riveting holiday experience for everybody, definitely an amazing new experience for the whole family.
