Pan-Asian insurer FWD Life Insurance sealed a global partnership with the Special Olympics that puts premium on people with intellectual disabilities.
“FWD aims to champion the dreams of young people with intellectual disabilities by creating an inclusive environment that provide equal opportunities,” FWD Life President and CEO Peter Grimes said.
The Philippine launch of the partnership took place on Monday at the Palms Country Club in Muntinlupa City.
“FWD supports the vision of Special Olympicss—using the power of sports to let people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities,” Grimes said. “Through this partnership, we are excited to bring to life our Community Care vision—to empower people to lig fulfilled lives.”
The Asia-base FWD Group is donating $1.25 million across its market of operation, including the Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Japan.
FWD and Special Athletes hosted a friendship bowling match for athletes from both organizations to kick off their long-term partnership.
“When they joined special olympics, their life changed,” said Special Olympics Philippines National Director Kaye Samson who proudly paraded their special athletes who excel in multiple sports and also in their jobs.
Aside from the cash donation, the partnership also involved 90 schools and communities through sports and nonsports events. It also engaged 12,000 youth.
“FWD Life Philippunes has always been keen about addressing the needs of people across diferrent lifestyles by teaching them and equipping them to live the life to the fullest,” FWD Life Philippines Head of Marketing and Community Care Lead Roche Vandenberghe said.
