Festival fever hits Koronadal City this August

AFTER an exceptional 2015 event, Pyesta Kolon Datal International Folklore Festival is again all set to stage the second CIOFF 2018 International Festival in the city of Koronadal, southern part of Mindanao, from August 11 to 18.

The upcoming festival will once again transform the city into a spectacle of goodwill and a haven of merrymaking, while keeping the CIOFF tradition of promoting friendship and peace alive. A perfect venue for cultural exchanges to safeguard, promote and enhance the country’s intangible cultural heritage, specifically through performances showcasing traditional songs and dances in the country.

Hosting the 2nd CIOFF 2018 International Festival, the city of Koronadal will be a representative of peace and friendship that Mindanao offers and what its people continue to work and live for. CIOFF 2018 International Festival in the city of Koronadal will be a testament that will showcase not just the culture and the arts from all over the world, but the peace and security, and opportunities in the region.  The wide expanse and coverage of the CIOFF International Festival promotion comes with a message that the Philippines is definitely a destination worth visiting soon.

The eight-day festival is packed with full shows, pocket performances and lecture-demos in the city of Koronadal, the neighboring municipalities in South Cotabato, and the city of Tacurong. Beyond the regular norms of street dancing, spectators will get to witness a tremendous display of folkloric presentations in a colorful celebration.

The organizer foresees nine countries of at least 25 participants from around the world, three nationally acclaimed performing dance companies from other regions in the Philippines and the Koronadal’s very own Hinugyaw Cultural Dance Troupe.

Pyesta Kolon Datal of Koronadal Philippines was awarded the CIOFF Associate Membership certificate that was duly received by city Mayor Peter B. Miguel upon the recommendation of the CIOFF Council during the 44th World Congress in October 2014, which paved the way to the staging of a festival with an international scope.
