Manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and stakeholders of the country’s garments, leather goods and fabric industry will gather for the First Philippine Garment, Leather Goods Industries, and Fabric Expo from August 23 to 26 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
Mounted by CP Exhibition Ltd. and Philippine Exhibitions and Trade Corp. (Petco), nine Philippine-based companies, together with 63 companies from China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Pakistan, Singapore and Taiwan, will showcase their products and services to bolster the huge potential of the local garments, leather goods, and fabric for export.
Kicking off the business forum sessions slated for the afternoon of August 23, Thursday, Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary and Board of Investments Vice Chairman and Managing Head Cerefino S. Rodolfo will talk about the state of the country’s garments, leather goods and fabric industries, as well as investment incentives and opportunities for investors at 1:50 p.m.
The Confederation of Garments Exporters of the Philippines will host a session to provide potential investors a closer look on how Philippine companies became globally competitive with the assistance of the government through investment incentives and industry policies at 2:20 p.m. and discuss the global outlook and supply chain trends of the wearable industry at 3:20 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will discuss the domestic and international market opportunities of the Philippine tropical fabrics made from natural fibers in the forum “Philippine Tropical Fabric: Opportunities and Challenges” by Celia Elumba of the DOST—Philippine Textile Research Institute at 2:50 p.m. DOST-NCR Regional Director Jose Patalinjug III will talk about the department’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program as an aid to the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises in the metropolitan area at 4:20 p.m.
Vietnam Textile Apparel Association Deputy Chairman Truong Van Cam, Vietnam National Textile & Garment Group Supply Chain Development Centre Managing Director Pham Minh Huong, and Association of Garment—Textile Hochiminh City Chairman Pham Xuan Hong will tackle Vietnam’s journey to becoming a major player in the global market of the garments industry in “Vietnam: Garments Industry Model” at 3:50 p.m.
The expo is endorsed by the Philippine Board of Investment, Confederation of Garments Exporters of the Philippines and supported by the Textile Producers Association of the Philippines, Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office of the local government of Marikina; the Garment Manufacturers Association of the Philippines, DOST-National Capital Region, and the DOST-Philippine Textile and Research Institute. The expo will showcase fabrics and garment accessories, garment machinery and parts, textile machinery, nonwoven machinery, dye machinery and chemicals, industry 4.0/factory automation, quality control, computer-aided design tools and software, as well as leather and leather goods machinery.
