IF there’s one couple who’s really changed the course of real-estate advocacy, it would have to be John Aguilar and Monica Hipolito.
The country’s first and only real estate and construction TV show Philippine Realty TV (PRTV) marks its 10th year on air and launches its 17th season, now on a new channel. The TV show that has served as the voice of the real-estate industry will now be seen nationwide and worldwide on CNN Philippines. The show has previously been airing on the ABS-CBN News Channel and The Filipino Channel. PRTV hosts Tessa Prieto-Valdes and RJ Ledesma will be joined by the latest addition to the roster, lifestyle TV and events host Issa Litton.
“Bringing the latest developments, news and trends on the real-estate industry is a public service we have gladly taken on and embraced since we first aired the show a decade ago,” PRTV Executive Producer and Creator John Aguilar said. The show has since been collaborating with the country’s top and emerging developers and suppliers to showcase the very best of what Philippine real estate has to offer.
Project Series
Aside from being the source of information on the latest projects and developments in the sector, the show has also made significant inroads in the industry via its reality building series where the show builds concept homes from the ground up. After producing the pioneering reality series Project: First Home where Aguilar built his first home from the ground up, the show progressed to the environmentally sustainable Project: Green Home, and finally to the climate and flood adaptive Project: Smart Home. The show will now embark on Project: Renovation, meant to apply all the show’s previous learnings into a full renovation of a three decade-old high-end home.
PRTV as in all its previous projects will work in partnership with some of the country’s top construction and interior-design suppliers, and will also integrate the latest building systems and technologies that are now available in the Philippine market. The project’s principal Arch. Paul Peña has conceptualized a modern tropical-resort design for the renovation project that aims to create a modern urban oasis that will make use of the original building’s existing structure. The design will also expand the current footprint and create new spaces within the house to suite the future occupants’ needs and lifestyle.
Among the exciting developments to look forward to in the project will be how demolition can be done while trying to salvage materials that can be recycled or upcycled, how to save on construction and operating costs by utilizing new wall systems and energy efficient and smart appliances, and how to design modern yet timeless interiors that will stand the test of time.
‘Build, Build, Build’
PRTV however, is not just about the residential sector. With the current administration’s plans to usher in the “golden age of infrastructure,” as well as the industry’s growing office and commercial sector, PRTV is preparing to bring more of these developments to the fore through documentary and reality TV type of stories. “Now more than ever, the public and the stakeholders are looking to follow these projects as they are being built, as these projects will have a direct impact on decentralizing growth and development, the quality of life of our communities, and our competitiveness as a nation,” Aguilar said. “We will continue to be here to document and participate in the building of this nation as we have done the past decade.”
PRTV will air on CNN Philippines by July 2018.
