Erap enjoins newly elected barangay, SK leaders to help bring back Manila’s former glory

NOW that the last elections are over, Manila Mayor Joseph E. Estrada expressed confidence that newly elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders will help the city government eradicate illegal drugs and reduce criminality.

Estrada said he hopes the new officials will help bring back the city’s former glory and make it drug-free even as he confirmed his intention to seek a third and final term in the forthcoming 2019 local elections.

“Nobody can change my inspiration. No one can divert me on my mission, on my dream for Manila. I already laid down my program of government to regain the lost pride and glory of Manila,” Estrada said.

The mayor has been vocal of his support to President Duterte’s drive against drugs and other illegal activities.

“I want that, by the end of my last term in 2022, Manila is drug-free,” he said in mixed English and Filipino.

Estrada vowed to fulfill his promises to help the majority of his poor constituents, provide livelihood programs to uplift their lives and restore the beauty of the city. He said several programs will be implemented to encourage more investors to put up their businesses in Manila to create more jobs for the people.

Counting on the cooperation of the newly elected community and youth leaders, Estrada urged them to serve Manileños and avoid any involvement in illicit activities, particularly illegal drugs.
