CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The construction of access roads amounting to P476.06 million leading to the New Clark City (NCC) in Tarlac is now being undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH Regional Director Antonio Molano Jr. said this includes the NCC-MacArthur Highway access road and bridges amounting to P233.13 million.
“Although we encountered delays due to road right-of-way issues, we are on track to meet the target completion date in May 2019,” he said. “The P233.93-million Clark-Bamban-Capas access road will be finished by September this year,” Molano added.
The NCC, the most ambitious project to date of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, is a new metropolis that will soon rise within the Clark special economic zone in Capas and Bamban, Tarlac.
The NCC is envisioned to be the country’s first and only smart and green city that will feature mixed-use real-estate development, an agro-industrial park and a food-processing terminal.
Last month construction began for the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC).
Phase 1 of the 200-hectare NGAC involves the development of back-up offices of various government agencies to ensure continuous business operations and services for the people in case of disaster or national calamities.
There will also be a one-stop shop for all the businesses located in Central Luzon.
The P13.16-billion Phase 1-A includes the construction of a world-class sports complex consisting of a stadium with a 20,000-seating capacity and an aquatics center with a 2,000-seating capacity that will be completed in time for the Philippines’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games in the last quarter of 2019.
Once completed in 2019, the project’s Phase 1-B will begin for the construction of additional government office buildings, government housing units and support-service facilities on a 20-hectare land.
Aside from this, small-scale retail and services facilities, including banks, health centers and hotels will be put up in adjacent zones.
