THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a 1.86-kilometer bypass road in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, easing congestion in roads leading to tourism destinations in the province.
DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said the P28.12-million Alaminos-Bani Bypass Road, a four-lane highway between the Pangasinan-Zambales Road and Alaminos-Bani Road, will benefit travelers going to and from the numerous scenic places on the west coast of the province of Pangasinan.
Tan added the concrete road with pavement markings, pedestrian sidewalk and solar lightings will “reduce the occurrence of congestion at Alaminos City, which serves as the gateway to tourism destinations in Bolinao and Dasol, including the Hundred Island National Park in Barangay Lucap, Alaminos City.”
The bypass road will lessen travel time and ease the transport of goods, “thus, generating savings on fuel and maintenance cost of vehicles using this route,” Tan noted.
He reported that during its soft opening before the city’s town-fiesta celebration, the new bypass road has contributed in easing the perennial traffic experienced during the occasion.
The construction of bypasses and diversion roads is among the strategic programs of the DPWH to decongest traffic in busy areas.
