Situated in the center of the room was a bed with a massive white comforter, and pillows of different shapes and sizes were scattered across the area, with girls chatting about their day.
You might as well have stumbled upon a slumber party. However, it was Gourdo’s launch of the Sleepcare Pillow Buffet.
Gourdo’s is a specialty store focused on the home, which traces its roots to an old and abandoned Italian restaurant at The Fort Entertainment Complex in Taguig City. Since then, it has grown to allow for more selections of quality kitchenware, and even expanded its portfolio to include products for bed and bath. The Sleepcare Pillow Buffet is among its many offerings.
“Aside from kitchen and dining products, Gourdo’s also has a bed and bath section. We’ve had pillows on our shelves since 2005, but this is the first time we are actively promoting them,” said Susan San Miguel, assistant general manager for merchandising of Gourdo’s. “The Sleepcare Pillow Buffet offers several options and allows our customers to choose what’s most suited to their [sleeping] needs.”
Industry expert Quentin Chan flew in from Hong Kong to present the lineup at the recent media launch of the Sleepcare Pillow Buffet at Gourdo’s branch in Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall. She discussed in detail the features of each pillow included in the “buffet”.
First introduced was the Memory Comfort Pillow. Chan said it has a soft and cushy feel similar to down pillows. The pillow can be easily molded to provide comfort when you need it and adjust your head’s weight, as well as temperature, assuring a perfect fit. The design provides ideal neck support, while the shape is meant to be therapeutic, offering the ideal alignment for your spine and neck. Memory Comfort Pillow reduces sleep apnea and snoring.
The Aromatherapy Pillow gives antimicrobial and hypoallergenic protection, with the added benefits of aromatherapy. The Anti-Dust Mite | Anti-Bacterial Pillow, on the other hand, has polyester-fiber filling and is especially treated to kill dust mites and bacteria, thus helping prevent the spread of air-transmitted disease and the development of respiratory problems. It is also hypoallergenic.
For top hotel standards, Chan suggested both the polyester-microfiberfilled Hotel Atelier Pillow with a thread count of 200, or the Hotel Pillow with a thread count of 300. Both are hypoallergenic and meant for year-round luxury. Designed to alleviate any pressure points, a Sleepcare representative demonstrated how the pillows were designed to be extremely soft but provide support, and are durable.
In battling the heat of a tropical country, like the Philippines, there’s the Memory Gel Pillow with gel-infused memory foam. The gel layer reduces thermal contact, improving airflow and reducing heat. The bamboo fiber washable cover also contributes to the decrease in temperature. The ergonomic contour offers superior head and neck support, and the memory foam maximizes pressure distribution evenly, providing pressure point relief.
The main highlight of the launch, however, was Sleepcare’s Professional Pillow innovation. It’s assembled with the aid of the innovative pillow selector that measures the thickness of the pillow needed for sleeping on the side or the back.
The center section of the Professional Pillow provides support for sleeping on the back. The occipital pad is removable in order to adjust your neck at the right angle, allowing your neck muscles to relax. The side section provides support for sleeping on the side. It should be at least 2.5 centimeter higher, so the neck and the spine form a horizontal line. For customers with board shoulders, adjusters can be used to elevate the side sections of the pillow for better support when sleeping on the side. The Professional Pillow has two sides at different neck lengths, and you may choose the side that nestles perfectly against your neck and shoulder area.
With this pillow selection, Sleepcare promises not only a good night’s sleep, but also a refreshing morning when you wake up.
