THIS four-piece indie rock band consisting of Zel Bautista, Jem Manuel, Don Gregorio and Jet Danao has a unique song-writing style that focuses on the lyrics, while their musicality flows through every line effortlessly.
According to Bautista, he always puts himself in other people’s shoes to feel what they do in a situation to become relatable with listeners.
Just recently, the group collaborated with one of the country’s best up-and-coming singer-songwriters Moira dela Torre in a beautiful, heartbreaking song entitled Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw.
Steady fan base
IN 2010 their song Time To Go was released, and that gave them the chance to get their own spot within the mainstream circuit. Since then, they started playing in gigs and gained a steady fan base.
December Avenue believes that 2016 was a breakthrough year for them as they released their first and highly anticipated full-length album.
Their song Eroplanong Papel has become one of their famous singles—and a very meaningful one at that, because of its concept. It represents one of a “floating prayer,” similar to the way paper airplanes glide against gravity.
In that same year on December 8 and 12, they held their first headlining concert in Teatrino, Greenhills together with other musicians as guests such as Clara Benin, as well as Gabby Alipe and John Dinopol of Urbandub.
What’s in a name?
WHY did the band members name themselves “December Avenue?”
They said the moniker reflects the kind of songs they make, which mostly talk about moving on in life. “December,” being the last month and an “avenue” toward a new year, means starting a new life soon.
So, if you are broken hearted, or in the process of moving on, December Avenue’s playlist is perfect to listen to.
