DAVAO CITY—Employers in the Davao region have been reminded to start paying their workers the first tranche of the P56 daily wage increase by Thursday.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional office here said the first tranche was P30 for all workers in the industrial, agricultural and services sectors.
The new wage increase was contained in the Wage Order RB XI-20 in Davao region set to take effect on Thursday, August 16.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has granted an addition of P56 to the daily minimum wage, but to be dispensed in two installments: P30 by August 15 this year and the remaining P26 by February 15 next year.
After the grant of the first tranche, the RTWPB said the new minimum wage rates for workers in nonagriculture, industrial, commercial and retail or service establishments employing more than 10 workers would now be P370 from P340.
Workers in the agriculture sector would be receiving P365 from P335, and those in retail or service companies employing not more than 10 workers would be looking at P355 in their payrolls, from P325.
Upon the full implementation of Wage Order RB XI-20, rates would be as follows: P396 for nonagriculture/industrial/commercial and retail or service employing more than 10 workers; P391 for agriculture industry; and P381 retail or service employing not more than 10 workers will be implemented.
The RTWPB said the wage order “poses no exemption from compliance except in cases of calamity where the board may accept applications for exemption for establishments adversely affected by calamities such as natural and/or human-induced disasters.”
The new wage rates would not cover domestic helps, or kasambahay, whose minimum wage requirement has been set by the Batas Kasambahay, or the Republic Act 10361, and the workers of establishments registered under the Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBE) Law and the Go Negosyo Act of 2013.
