DAVAO CITY—The town of Laak in Compostela Valley would be the first extension campus of the Compostela Valley State College (CVSC) to host its agriculture courses.
This developed as the provincial government eyed more campuses in its towns to bring more youth to its fold, the college president disclosed.
The CVSC-Laak extension campus would open in August this year to offer Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, CVSC President Dr. Christie Jean V. Ganiera said.
Ganiera was joined by Mayor Antonio Libuangan and the town’s council members, Vice Gov. Manuel Zamora and former governor and current senior board member Arturo Uy, in laying down the time capsule in the groundbreaking ceremony on February 13.
The Laak campus would join the college’s other extension campuses established in Compostela, Montevista, Maragusan and New Bataan.
The 2-hectare land was donated by Libuangan.
The CVSC was created in June 2013 under Republic Act 10598, which absorbed the regular branches of the Bukidnon State University’s external studies centers in Monkayo, Maragusan, Montevista and New Bataan.
Rep. Maricar Zamora authored the law that created the state college.
