CEBU Landmasters Inc. (CLI) officially launched its P3.6-billion sophomore full-range mixed-use property called “Astra Centre” to cater to the demand for integrated developments in the Mandaue area.
Set to be built on a 1.2-hectare lot on AS Fortuna Street, the strategic location is combined with the synergies that will emerge from the project’s components, CLI CEO Jose Soberano III said.
“Astra Centre will change the landscape of Mandaue City,” he said of the development’s promise.
The project will have two towers. They will rise from one podium, which will break grounds soon. It is also where the first-phase components will be located, including a retail structure and the 30-story Tower 1 with a hotel and residential condominium.
Astra Centre Mall is designed as a three-level boutique shopping place with 8,300 square meters (sq m) of leasable area. It will have a high ceiling with atrium, outdoor dining and stores at a paseo connected to a sunken garden and a supermarket and cinemas.
Radisson RED, a first in the country, is a 146-room accommodation facility to be operated by the Radisson Hotel Group and is one of the five hotels under the CLI hospitality business. It has premium select-service offerings targeted toward millennials, including 24-7 facilities, high-speed Wi-fi, “grab and go” food and beverage choices and statement art pieces.
“Cebu City is the perfect location to introduce Radisson RED to the Philippines, being a dynamic urban center with a youthful vibe and positive outlook,” said Katerina Giannouka, president for Asia Pacific of Radisson Hotel Group. “We look forward to welcoming guests at Radisson RED and to introducing a new era of hospitality to the country.”
A 15-story building, the residential condominium—One Astra Place—will house 478 dwelling units and amenities, such as an infinity pool, kiddie pool, function rooms, gym, al fresco area and skydeck, among others. It offers studio and one-bedroom units with 22-sq m and 36-sq m floor areas, respectively.
For the second phase, Tower 2 will have Astra Corporate Center, with 12 floors of modern office spaces offering a leasable area of 15,900 sq m and another vertical housing. Construction will be at a future date.
“CLI understands the dynamic lifestyle of Cebuanos and we address this by offering an astounding, aspiring and an all-in-one development,” Soberano said.
Agreeing with him was Scott Bryce, VP for finance and information technology for Asia Pacific at Radisson Hotel Group, who noted that Astra Centre is “the excellent venue” to introduce the hotel for the first time in the Philippines as both brands “offer the same dynamic lifestyle.”
The upcoming complex is anchored on the growing commerce and tourism industries in Cebu. Proof of these are major infrastructure projects, including the newly opened Terminal 2 of Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
Positioned as destination for meetings, incentives, conference and events, the “Queen City of the South” is set to host 2019 Routes Asia, a gathering of international leading airlines, airports and tourism executives.
The Department of Tourism estimates that many popular destinations in the country will experience room gaps by 2022. Metro Cebu alone will need 14,931 accommodation units, the agency cited.
Astra Centre is designed by global design consulting firm Callison RTKL and local architectural company RMDA Architects. It succeeds the Baseline Center in Cebu City—CLI’s first mixed-use project launched in 2015—which consists of a residential condominium, hotel, and office space.
