CLARK FREEPORT—The prompt action of Clark airport authorities in resolving the reported pilferage of a passenger’s luggage last week was applauded by top executives of the association of investors and locators here.
Last Friday top executives of the Clark Investors and Locators Association (Cila) lauded the fast government action on the reported pilferage at the airport as they cited the conducive business climate inside this freeport.
Cila Chairman Dr. Irineo Alvaro Jr. said he personally conveyed his congratulatory message to Alexander Cauguiran, officer in charge of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) for the agency’s prompt action on the incident.
Alvaro and Cila president Francisco Villanueva were the guests of the “Balitaan” media forum organized by the Capampangan in Media Inc., in cooperation with the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) at the Bale Balita here last Friday.
CIAC’s fast action resulted in the apprehension and identification of the culprits. Six ground handlers, four of them females, were placed under preventive suspension and now face criminal charges after being involved in the reported pilferage.
Alvaro said the effort now is “how to repair that damage done to our image. Maybe we should also cite the action that CIAC did.”
Meanwhile, Alvaro also said he envisioned Clark’s continuous development. “Whether we like it or not, it is inevitable that Clark will grow.”
The Cila chairman said Clark is an accessible and fast business haven. “There is a semblance of security when you’re here. There is a semblance of protection when you’re here.”
Clark is an airport-driven urban center ideal for the requirements of manufacturing high-end information technology enabled industries, aviation and logistics related enterprises, tourism and other sectors.
Alvaro enjoined the support of all sectors in helping project the image of Clark as a safe place to invest and visit.
He said everyone, including locators, media and stakeholders, are enjoined to play key roles, stressing the need for collaborative effort.
“We have to help each other to project to the whole world that Clark is a safe place to invest in and visit. Because when you are in Clark, you are not in the Philippines, but are part of the international world,” he said.
Clark Freeport is currently one of the best freeports in Luzon, which is currently host to 943 locators with 107, 000 workers, an all-time high since the inception of CDC as administrator of the freeport since 1993.

I think what’s best thing here is not the applaud of top executives from CILA but the praise words coming from the victim. Its easy to remove erring personnel and give yourselves a pat-on-the-back in doing some action. How about the victim? Did he get any compensation?
