CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT—A fact-finding investigation is now ongoing on the reported theft of the luggage of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) after he posted details of the incident on Facebook.
Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) chief Alexander Cauguiran said on Thursday that he has ordered a fact-finding investigation after seeing the post of an OFW on Facebook.
The OFW, who identified himself as Jov En Ross showed his pilfered luggage outside the police office at this airport on Facebook. The OFW said he came home on December 23, while his luggage arrived the following day. But it was only on January 10 that he got notified to get his luggage here, only to find most of the valuables were already missing.
“Our luggage/bags were robbed by airport personnel in Clark International Airport Philippines,” the OFW said.
“We found out that all the zippers of our luggage were destroyed,” he lamented as he showed three pieces of luggage and a box that was apparently empty. “We lost all our souvenirs like Victoria’s Secret lotion and soaps.”
He advised returning OFWs just to bring hand-carry luggage to avoid being robbed.
The CIAC investigation signed by Chief Insp. Adriano Junio Jr. Of the Clark airport police, identified the OFW as Jovinal C. de la Cruz, 34, and his companion as Rosemarie Campo Versoza, 36, who arrived via Jet Star flight 3K 779 from Singapore.
The lost contents of their luggage were valued at P82,824, which the Miascor Aviation Services, one of the ground handlers of the airport, agreed to settle.
Miascor station manager Mark Anthony Esteban and his staff Hazel David said the suspects were placed under preventive suspension pending an administrative investigation.
Cauguiran said he will recommend the termination and filing of criminal charges against the suspects.
