F2 LOGISTICS and Sta. Lucia Realty will dispute the third semifinals berth in a no-tomorrow quarterfinals showdown in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference today at the Imus City Sports Center in Cavite.
The match sets off at 7 p.m. with the Cargo Movers and Lady Realtors clashing for the right to face unbeaten Cignal HD Spikers in the knockout semifinals this Saturday.
F2 Logistics will be licking the wounds of a 16-25, 25-21, 20-25, 26-24 loss to Petron last Saturday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
“We cannot afford to lose this game anymore or else we’re done for the conference,” Cargo Movers Coach Ramil De Jesus said. “We have to forget our recent loss and I know that my players will bounce back stronger.”
Meanwhile, the bottom four teams begin their classification round battle for seventh to 10th places.
Foton, which failed expectations with a 1-3 won-lost card in Pool A, take on Pool B’s winless fifth placer University of the East-Cherrylume at 2 p.m., while Cocolife faces University of the Philippines-United Auctioneers Inc. at 4:15 p.m.
The winners clash for seventh spot, while the losers battle for ninth place on Thursday.
The Cargo Movers are expected to vent their ire on the Lady Realtors after failing to capture their group’s lone outright ticket to the semifinals.
The Blaze Spikers advanced to the next round outright after coming out with the best quotient of 10 points in a triple tie on 3-1 records with F2 Logistics (nine points) and Generika-Ayala (two points).
Generika-Ayala and Smart-Army figure in the other knockout quarterfinals pairing on Thursday.
Ara Galang, Michelle Morente and Aby Maraño rose to the occasion when their teammates had an off night and finished with 12, 10 and eight points, respectively.
“Petron deserved that win. They played well, more prepared and executed their plays. Unlike us we had a lot of lapses and played off,” de Jesus said.
