The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) gave a P2.4-million cash incentive to the Caloocan City government for bagging anew the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
The city, under the leadership of Mayor Oscar G. Malapitan, has now won the award for three consecutive years since 2015, DILG Director Analyn Baltazar-Cortez said.
Baltazar-Cortez added this means Caloocan City managed to comply with and maintain the high standards pegged by the DILG for good governance.
She noted that the city government was the “only” city that got the SGLG for three consecutive years.
Malapitan thanked the DILG for the financial incentive. He also reiterated his recognition of the “best efforts” that the officials and employees of the city government have done since he became the mayor of the city in 2013.
The BusinessMirror learned from the Public Information Office that some of the city’s officials were retained from the nine-year administration of former Mayor Enrico Echiverri. This was viewed in public administration as a “good practice.”
