THE British Council launched on May 18 its newest learning hub at The Curve in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
British Council Tests Manager for East Asia David Akast said the learning hub is a creative and inclusive space for learning English and preparing for English tests, particularly the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
“We develop services that will help test takers prepare and achieve the required benchmark scores required for them to study, work or emigrate in countries like the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the United States and Ireland,” Akast said.
IELTS, an internationally recognized English test which complies with the highest international standards of language assessment, provides a valid and accurate evaluation of an individual’s listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.
Ian Cortez, head of Partnerships and New Business for the British Council in the Philippines, said they will provide registrants with services, such as free IELTS orientations and pretests, preparation and writing workshops, information sessions and full access to their resource library in their 15 test centers nationwide.
“We are committed to understanding the needs of test takers. For example, after conducting a research, we identified writing as a common weakness for most test takers. So we invited our writing experts and offered writing courses that will help meet those needs,” he said. Also, Cortez said their program will offer two test formats—one for IELTS Academic and another for IELTS General Training.
“Anyone can register for either a regular IELTS program, which costs about P10,270. EILTS for the UK costs P13,885, or a IELTS Life Skills program, which costs P10,415,” he added.
Interested registrants can reach out to them through their official web site and Facebook.
