DILIMAN College and University of the Philippines (UP) posted big wins in the recent 23rd Fr. Martin Cup Summer Basketball Tournament.
The Blue Dragons turned to African Adama Diakhite in the last period to repulse the La Salle Green Archers, 75-68, at the San Beda-Manila gymnasium in Mendiola.
Ibrahim Outtara, on the other hand, scored 20 points for the Fighting Maroons who scored an 82-78 victory over the San Beda Red Lions in the tournament supported by Armor On Sportswear.
Diakhite shot 16 of his 33-point output in the fourth quarter to help propel the Blue Dragons to their first victory in three games in Group A of the senior division.
Brent Paraiso and Jollo Go finished with 16 and 13 points, respectively, for the Green Archers who took their first loss in five games. The win was UP’s second straight in Group B.
In the juniors division, University of Santo Tomas turned back Manila Patriotic School, 94-77. Rhayjun Baquial and Timothy de la Cruz had 16 points apiece for the Tiger Cubs.
National University walloped Emilio Aguinaldo College, 102-76, to hack out win No. 3 also in high-school action.
