THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Tuesday announced the arrest in separate occasions of a Chinese woman and five other foreigners who were caught violating the country’s immigration laws.
BI Acting Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. identified the Chinese national as 28-yearold Cai Nongnong, who was arrested on August 28 near the vicinity of the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila.
Cai entered the country using a student visa and later obtained a Filipino passport which she was able to use for traveling in and out of the country.
Cai has overstayed since July last year and has allegedly resorted to misrepresentation by using a Philippine passport under the name Jasmin Tan Lui.
BI fingerprint records indicate that Cai and Lui are one and the same person.
Reports showed that she had been working as a travel agent in the country.
She is now detained at the BI jail in Taguig awaiting her deportation.
Meanwhile, the five other aliens were arrested on August 28 in Guiguinto, Bulacan, where they were caught in the act of illegally working in a bag and slipper’s strap manufacturing company without the proper visa.
BI Commissioner Jaime H. Morente said he issued mission orders for the aliens’ arrest after investigations revealed that they have been blatantly violating Philippine immigration laws.
“There will be no letup in our campaign to flush out illegal aliens. We cannot allow these erring foreigners to make a mockery of our laws,” Morente added.
They were identified as Chinese nationals Guanxi Zheng, Honghong Zhuang, Jianmin Wu, Zhidan Gao, and Korean national Hyun-seung Kim.
They are detained at the BI detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig, pending deportation proceedings.
