A good night’s sleep is what all parents wish for their newborns. Sleep, after all, helps their babies to grow up healthy—and, of course, mommies and daddies get tired, too, and they need all the energy they can get to take care of their tiny bundles of joy throughout the day.
Recognizing this, Johnson’s, a company committed to working with moms, developed Johnson’s Baby Bedtime, a clinically proven bedtime routine to help parents everywhere get their little ones to sleep soundly—and they, as well.
Grounded on scientific research, Johnson’s bedtime routine helps babies fall asleep faster and stay in slumber longer with three simple steps: a warm bath, a soothing massage and some quiet time with baby.
The first step is to prepare a warm bath, for this will signal the baby that it’s already time to sleep. A massage, as part of a bedtime routine, can help babies sleep better. But, more than that, it can also help parents recognize and respond to their baby’s body language. These moments before
bed are an opportunity to help baby wind down through quiet-time activities, such as reading, singing or listening to music.
“Research shows that sleep rhythms begin to develop at around six weeks, and most babies are developmentally capable of regular sleep-wake cycles by three to six months. As your baby begins to understand the difference between night and day, it’s the perfect time to help improve their sleep routines,” says Dr. Agnes Tirona-Remulla, a specialist in ENT-Head and Neck Surgery, subspecializing in sleep medicine and surgery.
To aid in establishing such nightly routine, Johnson’s has launched the Bedtime App, which features the Tonight We Sleep Challenge. It’s designed to encourage parents to try the app for one week and see for themselves what difference an uninterrupted sleep can make for them and their babies.
Now available in countries around the world, the Bedtime App features a proprietary customized sleep profile tool to get research-based analysis of baby’s sleeping habits, which include a sleep examination and sleep tracker feature, a lullaby album and ambient sound mixer to make playing lullabies more convenient, information on the Bedtime Routine and products, and access to Johnson’s sleep experts for answers to sleep-related questions.
“Every one of our bedtime
products is backed by science [and] designed to enhance the bedtime routine for both baby and mom. We know that babies grow physically, cognitively and emotionally with better sleep, and if moms and their babies don’t sleep well, then their interaction with each other is not optimal, which also has its own effects,” says Bessie Campillo, Johnson’s franchise marketing manager. She adds, “Johnson’s has always been focused on maximizing daily moments for parents and their babies, to stimulate baby’s senses and provide parents an opportunity to nurture baby’s ability to learn, think, love and grow.”
