THE Isabela-based organization of Ilocano writers Sanggir Dagiti Ilokano nga Awardee-Writers (Silaw) is inviting Ilocano poets to join its first “Silaw Literary Awards” launched in cooperation with the 1 Anak ti Ilokano, a nationwide group of professionals engaged in civic works.
Vernacular writer Baldovino AB. Valdez, Silaw president, said the poetry tilt is open to campus journalists not more than 21 years old (first category) and creative writers in the dialect 22 years of age and older (second category).
Based on the theme “Saving the Environment and Natural Resources,” entries must be 20 to 30 lines long, computer-encoded in double space on Times New Roman, size 12 points font.
Entries must bear the writer’s pseudonym or nom de guere, but accompanied with a sealed envelope containing the author’s true name, brief bio-data, passport-sized photo, contact number and title of the entry (original and unpublished).
Entries must be sent through e-mail account rogiebaysa@yahoo.com, and should also be submitted in four hard copies with the author’s pseudonym to the secretariat, Silaw Inc. c/o Baldovino AB. Valdez, Magsaysay, Alicia, Isabela infront of the United Church of Christ.
The deadline for submission is not later than the second Wednesday of May 2018.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning entries: first prize, P6,000; second prize, P5,000; third prize, P4,000; and fourth, P3,000. Two P2,000 each consolation prizes will also be given during the Environment Month Day event on June 11 at the Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park in Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya.
