Banking under the new normal
There is no doubt that this pandemic will have strong economic impact on every financial institution, specifically on loan demand, deposit growth, credit quality and much more. In the context of the ongoing health crisis here and abroad, a new business model involving high levels of automation and less physical interaction has evolved in the banking and financial services sector. While a lot of businesses and industries are closing or slowing down their operations, the industry for digital companies is growing too fast.
A message to a father
ON this day dedicated to all fathers in the world, I wanted to share how blessed you are. You have a father who is willing to do everything for you; just to give the life he always wanted you to have. He may have experienced the worst in this world, still he always wanted you to experience convenience.
The qualities of a truly educated man
What really constitutes education? How can we tell whether a person is educated? Is being educated purely a function of one’s ability to memorize or exhibit grammatical prowess? Are there certain books that you have to read? Does it mean graduating with highest honors in a very reputable institution? Or does it mean being prepared to join the work force? Do you need to have an advanced degree in order to be considered well-educated? These are some of the recurrent questions in intellectual scheme.

Insights of a young accountant
I will never forget the first time I got my registration certificate as official proof of being enrolled in the BS Accountancy Program I of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Lopez, Quezon. Thereafter, I learned that the first stage of being an accountant was illiteracy. I didn’t even know what ACCO (code for Accounting) was. I didn’t also even know that the professors and some other students like me are expecting us to excel in this chosen field. According to them, all students enrolled in this program belong to what they call “cream of the crop.” In my own translation: best among the enrolling batch. I have no idea or background in accounting, unlike some of my classmates who have taken bookkeeping in high school. I never knew that it was going to be a tough ordeal for me. Upon finishing the introductory accounting subjects, I wanted to sign an affidavit to not pursue accountancy.
