Interest income pushes UnionBank earnings higher

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) grew its net income by 11.29 percent to P4.37 billion in the first six months this year, from P3.92 billion in the same period last year, as interest incomes rose in double-digits led by trading and investment securities at 26.01 percent, according to a regulatory filing at the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Consolidated Metrobank income up 5%

Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company (Metrobank) raised its consolidated income by 5 percent to P9.5 billion in the first half of the year as net interest income from target markets expanded by 16 percent to P29.6 billion, or 73 percent of total operating income, based on an unaudited or preliminary numbers.
