CLARK FREEPORT—The much-awaited commercial opening of the biggest water theme park in the Philippines is finally set on Saturday, February 24. This developed after Aqua Planet passed the third-party certification last week, which means it is now on apar with international standards in terms of safety.
BBI President Dr. Irineo Alvaro Jr. said everything is automated inside the water park, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
BBI is the developer of the 10-hectare water theme park located in the northwest section of this free port and the grand Midori Hotel and Casino nearby.
Alvaro said waterproof wrist bands that have embedded RFID microchips are given to every guest before entering the water park. This can then be loaded at designated booths and used for practically everything inside.
Alvaro said two wave pools—one for children and one for adults—9 feet deep, are among the attractions of the P2.5-billion water theme park.
Aqua Planet had a three-day ceremonial lighting and soft opening event from November 23 to 25 last year.
First to relish the Aqua Planet’s 25 state-of-the-art water attractions were Ayta children, as well as 100 children from three orphanages in Pampanga.
Aqua Planet General Manager Rafael Soarez said some of the water facilities include the Spiral Slides, Octopus Racers, Aqua-Loop, Tornado, Wave River and Flow Rider.
The Aqua Planet water theme park is about 10 minutes away from the Clark International Airport here.
Aqua Planet tickets are available at the gates or at Midori Hotel and SM malls at P900 for adults and P700 for kids.
Aqua Planet aims to cater to both local and international tourists “with its endless fun and adventure.”
Meanwhile, Soarez said the world’s largest swimming lessons will happen in every water park around the world.
He said Aqua Planet is now aiming to hold the biggest swimming lessons for thousands of kids to break the Guinness Book of World Records.
But Soarez said Aqua Planet’s version will have a “twist” because “special kids” will be invited to join.
“This would be a worldwide affair,” he said.
