The Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the country’s National Auto Club, recently held the Iloilo-Guimaras Fly-Drive Caravan as part of its program of rediscovering the culture, farm tourism and culinary heritage of the countryside.
Now on its 14th edition, the four-day tour was themed “A Culinary, Heritage and Farm Expedition,” which visited well-loved historic spots in Iloilo City, Iloilo province and Guimaras.
According to former Tourism Secretary and AAP trustee Mina Gabor, the caravan is a series of road-tour packages put together by the auto club for its members to explore the charming destinations across the archipelago for a worry-free trip.
The caravan visited Spanish-era churches and ancestral mansions in Iloilo City, the farm tourism and heritage spots in Iloilo province, and scenic and historical attractions in Guimaras.
Previous caravans have visited the provinces of Rizal, Cavite, Quezon, Laguna, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Bulacan, Pangasinan, Ifugao, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Negros Occidental, Batanes and Bohol, among others.
The event is copresented by the Tourism Promotions Board and the Department of Tourism Region 6, with official fuel partner Petron Corp., official carrier Philippine Airlines and official residence Seda Atria Hotel.
The caravan is also supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., province of Iloilo, province of Guimaras, city of Iloilo and the municipality of Miagao.
