BEYOND providing skin care for women, Olay over the years has also redefined how Filipino women see beauty through its powerful marketing campaign and inspiring stories told by different women from all walks of life. As it marks its 10th anniversary in the Philippines, it introduces a new lineup of influential muses who have joined in its nationwide movement of celebrating a decade of beautiful transformations.
Joining the ranks with Olay ambassadors—which include Mons Romulo, Denise Laurel, Bea Alonzo, Bianca Gonzales, Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda—are young actress Janella Salvador, 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and former ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio.
Respectively, they endorse Olay White Radiance, Olay Total Effects and Olay Regenerist. They were introduced by Olay executives and hosts Luis Manzano and Sam Oh in an endorsement gala held recently at Shangri-La in The Fort.
In an evening of fine dining, Salvador, Wurtzbach and Santos-Concio shared what they were most looking forward to while with working with the brand, as well as their message for Filipinas who share their love for Olay.
Salvador, who is fresh from the success of the ABS-CBN series Born for You, which she coheadlined with actor Elmo Magalona, said: “When I found out that I was going to do the campaign with Ms. Pia and Ms. Charo, who are such big names, and I’m simply, well, Janella, I was very excited and flattered.”
Wurtzbach, on the other hand, made an entrance as actor-singer Piolo Pascual serenaded her with the crooner standard “The Way You Look Tonight”. According to her, there is one Olay commercial that she will never forget—and it’s the one that featured another beauty queen, Miriam Quiambao. “I remember seeing it as a kid and I’ve always wanted to be a Miss Universe. And, when I found out that I was going to be one of the Olay ambassadors, I just thought of that moment and it’s like a dream come true. I’ve known Ms. Charo since I was an awkward kid and I’m very humbled to be working with her and Janella.”
Currently, Wurtzbach is working closely with the Miss Universe organization to organize talks that are geared toward HIV and AIDS awareness.
She added that they are planning to do some works in the Philippines, as well, specifically in Manila, to advocate the same cause.
Back from her decades-long film hiatus with Lav Diaz’s acclaimed Ang Babaeng Humayo, Santos-Concio, who was dressed in a striking red gown, shared that as an Olay ambassador, she wants to encourage women to take care of themselves.
“There’s no such thing as ageing; it’s [merely] a state of mind. If one has a youthful attitude toward life, you have no reason to feel old. There should be an inner glow that reflects outside.”
When asked about how it feels to star in another movie since her debut in Mike de Leon’s classic Itim, she admitted to the BusinessMirror she had feelings of uncertainty in going back to something that she hadn’t done for some time, but added she’s a firm believer in “there’s no such thing as retiring” and people should continually aspire and grow to be their best. Together, Salvador, Wurtzbach and Santos-Concio have united with countless others who trust Olay to reveal their own stories and transformations, and to celebrate a decade of an “iconic Olay experience.” According to Olay executives, over the last 10 years, the brand has helped shape the skin-care category in the Philippines with in-depth consumer understanding and innovation to meet the ever-changing needs of Filipino women.
Since the brand’s official introduction in the country in 2006, it has partnered with many influential Filipinas to represent its products.
More than these ambassador’s success in their respective careers, Olay execs shared that their ambassadors are an inspiration to a lot of women to become the best versions of themselves: “They nobly embody the Olay spirit, [and] they’re also proof of the best beautiful transformations through beauty that’s inside and out.”
