Over 5,000 vacancies await jobseekers during the first-ever Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) fair for the forthcoming commemoration of the anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution in Quezon City.
TNK is the joint job and business fair to be held by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Trade and Industry.
Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said the TNK for the 32nd Edsa People Power Revolution anniversary will take place in Quezon City on Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“I encourage jobseekers to visit the Quezon City Hall grounds on February 25 and take advantage of the more-than 5,000 local and overseas jobs to be offered by 15 participating employers and recruitment agencies,” Bello said.
To ease their application process, interested applicants, the labor chief said, should bring preemployment requirements, such as resume or curriculum vitae (bring extra copies for multiple job applications); 2 x 2 ID pictures; certificate of employment for those formerly employed; diploma and/or transcript of records; and authenticated birth certificate.
Citing data from the DOLE National Capital Region, Bello said 442 of the available vacancies will be offered by local employers.
The local vacancies are for the following positions: sales associate; management trainee; cashier/counter checker; accounting assistant; graphic artist; account sales executive; helper; information-technology programmer; sales administrative assistant; buyer; carpenter; installer; mechanical engineer; merchandising assistant; painter; and plumber.
Meanwhile, Bello said the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration has also authorized 10 Philippine recruitment agencies (PRA) to join the TNK.
He said the PRAs have 5,000 job orders in Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and Malaysia.
The available overseas jobs are for the following positions: waitress; ground steward; nurse; midwife; medical technologist; engineer; surveyor; electrician; technician; pipefitter/plumber; carpenter; driver; factory worker; sales staff; programmer; air-traffic controller; barista; laborer; and cook.
The TNK is part of the efforts of the current administration to encourage more people to join the celebration of the Edsa People Power.
Traditionally, the DOLE only conducts a major job fair every Labor Day on May 1, and Independence Day on June 12.
