Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle will be the keynote speaker at the presentation of the 40th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) tomorrow, November 14, 2018, at the Star Theater, Star City, CCP Complex, Pasay City. The event will start at 5 p.m.
D. Edgard A. Cabangon, CMMA acting chairman, and Fr. Rufino C. Sescon Jr., executive director and trustee, will be present to welcome the 289 finalists, and guests at the celebration.
Other members of the CMMA board of trustees and officers, members of the clergy from the different parishes and religious organizations, community and civic leaders, mass media practitioners and other communication professionals and student journalists will also grace the event.
Tagle, who is the honorary chairman of the CMMA, is expected to speak on this year’s theme, “The truth will set you free” (John 8:32), which is derived from the World Social Communications Day message of His Holiness Pope Francis.
The CMMA was established four decades ago in 1978 by the late Jaime L. Cardinal Sin, then archbishop of Manila, as the means by which the Church pays tribute to those who “serve God by means of the mass media.” It was chaired for 17 years by the late Ambassador Antonio L. Cabangon Chua, from 1999 when he was appointed by Cardinal Sin, until he passed away in 2016.
