Premium serviced residences Joy~Nostalg Hotel & Suites Managed by Accor in partnership with Liter of Light turns low-cost materials into high-quality solar lighting for communities lacking access to electricity.
Odette Huang, General Manager of Joy~Nostalg, expresses joy in brightening lives this Christmas through the gift of light and hope, as the hotel addresses the needs of a community without electricity located 90 minutes away from the hotel location in Ortigas.

The management shared that months ago, the mentioned hotel initiated a partnership with Liter of Light. Together, they endeavored to illuminate homes, create conducive study environments for children, and establish safe pathways for the entire community.
When it comes to the creative process, the associates at Joy-Nostalg, aptly named “Heartists,” dedicated their efforts to the project, providing valuable resources and donating 100 solar lamps to the community.
In an effort to expand the project’s reach, Joy-Nostalg extended invitations to customers, stakeholders, and guests, securing an additional set of 100 light sources through their contributions.
“We often notice how our city becomes brighter during the festive season, but energy poverty still makes this same spark of Christmas a little harder to see in so many villages,” says Ilac Diaz, whose Liter of Light movement has installed more than 350,000 bottle lights in over 15 countries.
“With Joy~Nostalg providing solar lamps hand-built by corporate volunteers, these lights will be sure to brighten so many lives this Christmas,”

Beyond lights and decor
Recently, the hotel unveiled its annual Christmas Tree lighting event, “The Joy of Giving,” attended by a diverse group of people including media, guests, staff, and residents.
The guests were treated with the angelic voices of the Anthology.ph singing the popular Christmas songs like “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” and “
Beyond the collaboration with Liter of Light, Joy~Nostalg forged partnerships with Nespresso and the Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation, Inc. (NVC) for this year’s festive celebration.
Notably, the holiday decorations featured recycled Nespresso capsules as unique ornaments hanging in the three towering Christmas trees situated in the lobby of the hotel.
The NVC, an organization dedicated to providing proper nutrition for underprivileged children and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for their parents, skillfully repurposed 3,700 Nespresso capsules into handcrafted decorations.
This creative initiative not only added an eco-friendly touch to the decorations but also contributed to the meaningful work of NVC.
Above and beyond, Joy~Nostalg extended its support to the livelihood of a small community in Bohol, Antequera. The hotel took a thoughtful step by purchasing basket hampers for the community’s seasonal gifting goodies, fostering economic sustainability in the process.
Highlighting a broader cause during the Christmas Tree Lighting event has become a cherished tradition for Joy~Nostalg, showcasing their commitment to social responsibility.
In the preceding year, the hotel championed the artisan project of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from San Juan City Jail. The lobby featured their skillfully crafted parol products, allowing the hotel to contribute to the welfare of the PDLs’ families during the Christmas season.
This consistent dedication to meaningful initiatives reflects the hotel’s ongoing efforts to make a positive impact in various communities.
