Medical services businesses are usually launched on-site but the dynamic management team of the newest state-of-the-art facility in Manila meant to cater to the pre-employment medical check up needs of Filipino seafarers and land-based OFWs decided to take a unique path in doing so.
Taking the adage ‘health is wealth’ to a notch level, company officials and staff of WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic led by its president Rachelle B. Lopez and vice president Noli Lopez, introduced the medical facility last month in the fairways and greens of the picturesque golf course of Club Malarayat in Lipa, Batangas.
The launching of the medical facility was one of the highlights of the WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic ‘Swing for a Cause’ open golf tournament held on May 24, 2023 at Club Malarayat, which drew the participation of a number of stakeholders of the Philippine maritime industry.
“We decided to do a unique launching for our new business endeavor by using golf, which is the industry stakeholders’ favorite sport, while also doing charitable work as well,” points out Rachelle Lopez. Proceeds of the WMOC open golf tournament went to several socio-civic organizations helping the marginalized sectors of the society.
WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic is the latest addition to WMOC Group of Companies, whose core line of business is providing documentation to seafarer and maritime training centers for the largest ship registry in the world.
“Our company spearheaded this event because we believe that health is wealth and it is the most important asset that every maritime industry stakeholder should possess in order to sustain undertakings that contribute to the growth of our industry. Staying healthy at all times should be everyone’s most important goal, especially our Filipino seafarers because they take on the bulk of the work for our maritime industry,” points out Ms. Lopez during her welcome remarks at the awarding rites at the club house.
She added that the Filipino seafarers and land-based OFWs are the main clientele of WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic starting with the facility’s soft opening and blessing on March 3, 2023.
WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic had its humble beginnings in June 2020 when the Lopez couple decided to put it up in response to the government and numerous manning agencies’ need to provide Covid-19 testing for Filipino seafarers at the onset of the pandemic
However, they felt that they could do more than just Covid-19 testing so WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic eventually evolved into a full-service medical facility.
Strategically located at Esther Building along Taft Avenue, construction of the newly-built facility was completed in December 2022.
WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic is now open to provide pre-employment medical examinations, annual physical examinations, and medical diagnostics and consultations for seafarers and land-based OFWs as well as for industrial, corporate, and private clientele.
The facility has partnerships with topnotch accredited molecular laboratories in Metro Manila and along with its modern and state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities, it is capable of providing quality, efficient, and reliable testing services to Filipino seafarers and the maritime industry.
“To show how much we value the Filipino seafarers and land-based OFWs, those who undergo medical services at WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic are automatically provided term medical insurance for free, which we are capable of doing through our partnership with a reputable insurance company,” enthuses Ms. Lopez.
More than just acquiring modern medical equipment and facilities, WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic has also invested in the most competent doctors and medical staff who all possess qualifications and experience to perform the required medical services at the highest and most professional level possible.
WMOC Medical and Diagnostic Clinic also offers basic examination including complete blood count, routine urinalysis, fecalysis, and comprehensive physical examination. It also offers vaccination services for Hepatitis B, flu and pneumonia as well as radiologic examinations that include chest X-ray, ultrasound, and 2D echo.
The facility also provides ancillary services including pulmonary function test, ECG, stress test, digital visual acuity, Ishihara test, and audiometry.
