CEBU-BASED software development consulting firm Symph Inc. is leveraging on the growing demand for artificial technology (AI) to boost its revenues by a fifth, while helping “transform the way Filipinos live and work.”
CEO Dave Overton said AI is a “new frontier” that Symph can continuously explore and dive into, as he noted that the opportunity in the space is “very big both locally and internationally.”
Already, Symph has served 500 companies and organizations in the country and other markets, providing AI-based solutions to the likes of the World Bank and the Philippine government for road development.
“What I do see happening, especially locally, [is that] there’s a ton of opportunity for this to enhance the ways that Filipinos do things,” Overton told the BusinessMirror. “For small to medium-sized enterprises, this could help them handle some of the more tedious or repeating tasks that could be easily automated.”
The Symph CEO said that, while AI might threaten jobs, it “has the potential to transform the way we live and work.”
AI, he noted, “will fundamentally change the way we harness and use technology.”
“I think that is the approach that we [come from: that we really want to dive in to explore the possibilities] of AI,” the Symph executive said. “In a lot of ways, we’ll be the first to sort of find out.”
Symph aims to grow its top line by 20 percent this year with the help of AI.
“But we really want to embark on this AI as an opportunity for us to get involved early and be at the forefront of the things that are going to change” Overton imparted. “Because in a sense, we need to know what’s going to happen in the market around us.”
