A relaxing first-time experience here in Dakak Resort, one of the popular travel destinations located in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines. It is known for its beautiful white sand beach, crystal-clear waters, and stunning natural surroundings. I am amazed how they’re able to live up to its name “Dakak” short for “dakong kakahoyan” which means “vast forest.” True enough the area is covered with a large number of lush green trees- 15 hectares of wooded land, a natural reservoir for native plants and animals, with a 750-meter private white-sand beach.
For more than three decades in the business, they have remained to provide great quality of service for guests to enjoy with their accommodating staff and plenty of fun activities to offer in the area such as ATV rides for rent, horseback riding, pool slides, and many more. Not to mention they hold one of the longest dual ziplines in Mindanao. Personally, it’s one of the best rides I had, it’s safe and the view was just fantastic seeing the landscape and seascape of the area from above as we slide down the lines. I heard their zipline ride is running for almost 12 years and surely people of all ages (especially thrill-seekers) would enjoy it.

A place of rest, serenity and create core memories with loved ones and family
Furthermore, Dakak recognizes the trend toward sustainable green tourism and environmental preservation. This is what they want to impart and share this message to FIlipinos and foreign visitors. To also introduce human-to-nature connection in Dakak.
In line with this, Dakak resort is a venue partner for the upcoming National Sports Tourism and Green Advocacy Summit and culmination event of Zampen Open Water Swim Circuit 2023 now on its 4th and final leg for athletes and swimmers from all over the regions of the Philippines. A vision from Mindanao is to take it to the international stage towards the end of 2023 and to have participants from all over South Asia.

This event will pave the way for an opportunity to promote eco-friendly tourism practices that contribute to sustainable development while showcasing the natural beauty of the Philippines through sports held in Dakak resort. A timely occasion to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable sports tourism in our country starting in Zamboanga Peninsula, Mindanao.
A newly forged sports innovation group from the 3 neighboring SEA countries Singapore Philippines and Malaysia named Atrive is sponsoring the Sports Tourism and Advocacy Green Summit along w Dakak and DOT 9 One of A Kind Asia to support the event Zamboanga Open Water Swim, will also launch the Phil Open Water Swim Green which I’m excited to be part of.
This is a testament that sports tourism is really a unifying initiative for people to come together in creating a healthier and more vibrant community and future.
So Mindanao is now going green flag from red flag. Off to 7,641 islands!
