The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) is now targeting 10,000 additional sites under its Free Public Internet Access Program (FPIAP).
DICT Secretary Ivan E. Uy said the sites will be located in 1,364 localities nationwide.
As of last April 23, he said FPIAP covered 3,961 sites in 493 localities.
Uy made the disclosures during the sectoral meeting of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. last Tuesday in Malacañang.
Aside from updates on the digitalization efforts of DICT and the National Broadband Plan, Uy also discussed cybersecurity concerns as part of the National Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Development Agenda 2023-2028
These include National Cybersecurity Response Organization and the ongoing unified counter measure of DICT.
Uy also presented the Digital Transformation of the National Government initiatives of DICT including the eLGU, eTravel, eGovPay, eGovCloud, eReport & eGov PH super app.
