Fashion designer Marianne Martin, owner of Nouvelle Haute Couture, which just opened at Robinsons Galleria, says the following are in:
. Oversized clothes
. Flared cargo pants
. Cut out tight tops
. Corsetted dress
. Mini skirts
. Lace, beaded tops
Color combinations
Colors that mimic nature’s bounty this season are in. This means all shades of blue, blood orange, lavender, baby pink and teal.
Try playing around with color combinations. Martin says a baby pink frilly dress with a teal belt is great. So, too is a blood orange, brown or teal outfit paired with a black scarf of belt.
Worried about wearing clothes that fit your age?
Don’t.
“So long as you are comfortable and you can carry your clothes with confidence, that’s fine,” says Martin.
Generally, however, boomers are toned down and conservative while the younger ones are maximalists, observes Martin.
And don’t forget. Wear what makes you confident. That’s the best fashion statement, this summer. Clothes should only come in second.
