Continuing the company’s commitment to conserve and protect the Verde Island Passage, First Gen Corporation through its subsidiary First Gas Power Corporation, in partnership with the UPLB School of Environmental Science and Management (SESAM), will pursue a collaboration to conduct a carrying capacity assessment of a mangrove forest in Lobo, Batangas under its CSR program “Center for Center”.
The mangrove forest is being managed by the Lobo LGU and First Gen’s assisted people’s organization – Samahan ng Maliliit na Mangingisda sa Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan sa Brgy. Lagadlarin (SMMPKBL).
UPLB – SESAM in partnership with First Gen paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Lota Manalo and Vice Mayor Jurly Manalo for the assessment of the SMMPKBL.
Part of the project is the assessment of the Lagadlarin Mangrove Forest to ensure that the tourism site will be able to accommodate sufficient number of tourists for the livelihood of the People’s Organization and at the same time, ensure environmental protection and conservation.
The result of the study will be crucial to continue the development and implementation of Ecotourism programs in Lobo. The program will be funded by First Gen Corporation as part of their “Project Center of the Center.”
