THE Yuchengco-owned Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has won “The Challenger” accolade for 2022 at the highly-coveted YouTube Works Awards, making it the very first Philippine bank to ever receive this recognition.
Its all-in-one banking app DiskarTech, with its ad dubbed “Utang ni Tatang” (The Old Man’s Debt) that celebrates promdis (a Filipino slang referring to people from the province or rural areas) and their resourcefulness enabled by its extraordinary features, earned the plum.
The app is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The promotional video starts with its title sequence, followed by the opening scene wherein the main character, Tatang, welcomes his visitors from Manila into his provincial home. Mosquitoes suddenly bother the visitors. This changes the elderly’s aura altogether.
Come nighttime, he overhears the couple complaining which takes him over the edge. As the plot twist, Tatang surprises his guests with a hilarious and effective solution.
Afterwards, the film shows a familiar face from DiskarTech commending the old man’s brand of resourcefulness, which is in line with its benefits and features.
This only multi-lingual finance app in both Taglish and Cebuano makes banking more accessible for people in the provinces. Opening an account is a breeze. With just one valid identification, users can get a 3.25-percent annual interest rate for savings, avail of its loans, pay bills, and many more.
“DiskarTech affirms its commitment to make Filipinos’ lives easier with online banking that’s more accessible and convenient. Our spin on the Pinoy kulambo [mosquito net] is our representation on the financial security that every Filipino deserves,” said Lito Villanueva, executive vice president and chief innovation and inclusion officer of RCBC.
This commercial was made in collaboration with agency Katok and has since garnered 7.4 million views on Facebook since late October. More information is available at www.diskartech.ph.
