THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) will further aid survivors of the recent howler via skills training on construction-related programs.
In a memorandum, Tesda Director General Danilo P. Cruz instructed all the agency’s regional directors on October 29 to conduct their respective assistance, recovery and rebuilding activities in areas hit by Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng” (international name Nalgae).
“Tesda embraces the distinct sympathetic nature of Filipinos to help our kababayans in distress,” Cruz said. “The agency ensures that interventions and appropriate assistance are immediately provided to…affected individuals.”
Per his directive, field offices were also ordered to activate their respective disaster team and regional augmentation team to make sure affected areas would be supported and given interventions in terms of human resources and technical complementation.
They were, likewise, tasked to coordinate with proper regional and provincial government agencies, as well as local chief executives, to review the kind of assistance needed in their respective areas.
According to the Tesda chief, they have been extending help, particularly distribution of relief packs and provision of skills training on construction-related programs to residents of disaster-hit areas.
Apart from the recent natural disaster, the agency conducted the same initiatives when a magnitude 7.0 earthquake jolted Northern Luzon last July.
Tesda employs its training-cum-production scheme, which provides practical skills and experiences for trainees to put into use in reconstructing their damaged houses while earning a living in the future.
