DAVAO CITY—Some 66 co-operatives in Sarangani Province have been issued their respective certificates of compliance (COC), and more are still being processed as the province held its first ever summit for cooperatives.
Some are into small-scale mining, small dairy operation, fishing, agriculture, agrarian reform, transport, multi-purpose operation, credit, marketing, producers, consumers and service.
As of June 30, Sarangani listed 66 cooperatives which were already issued with COC and 10 more were processing and completing necessary requirements.
During the open space conversation, cooperators aired their concerns such as insufficient working capital, insufficient capability development budget for required mandatory trainings, and support in completing mandatory requirements for the issuance of COC.
Therese Faith Gavan, provincial cooperatives development officer-designate said the first Ronda Probinsya Kusog Kooperatiba Summit 2022 on October 28 at the Capitol gym “serves as a starter activity for the formulation of Sarangani’s programs, projects, and activities in support of the Philippine Cooperative Development Plan for 2023-2028.”
She said the summit was held to “encourage cooperatives to become active partners of the province and to recognize their contributions in the development and nation building.”
“The summit recognizes how significant the role of cooperatives…in the partnership with the local government to help in provincial development,” she added. Cooperatives from the seven municipalities of Sarangani attended the summit.
Meanwhile, the Sarangani Ronda Probinsya logo could now be used in official documents, issuances and communications after it was officially unveiled last month.
Ronda Probinsya is Gov. Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao’s “multi-faceted flagship program which facilitates the distribution of the much-needed socioeconomic assistance to the poorest sectors particularly those in the farthest and most hard-to-reach areas of Sarangani,” the provincial information office said.
The logo was the entry of Rommell Tesoro from General Santos City who won the nod of panelists browsing through 328 official entries from all over the country in the provincial government’s logo making contest on August 3.
Ronda Probinsya, according to the governor, was envisioned as a “beacon of hope,” which started amid the darkest days of the pandemic.
“Ronda Probinsya is geared towards resilient, dynamic and progressive Sarangani through strengthening the province’s health services, education, support to the barangays, upliftment of cultural communities, promotion of peace-building efforts, support to environmental protection and preservation, and improvement of the quality of life of the Sarangans through livelihood and housing projects,” the information office added.
The 11th Sangguniang Panlalawigan also issued Resolution No. 2022-11-032, “A Resolution Adopting the Official Seal of the Ronda Probinsya Program in the Province of Sarangani.”
Pacquiao said the dominating orange and blue colors in the logo” embody Ronda Probinsya’s objective of bringing honest and trustworthy public service.” The hand holding the growing plant symbolizes the abundant support that the provincial government aims to provide to Sarangans to usher new era of growth and development.
The book, the stethoscope, and the house “depict the focused areas of the program such as education, health care, livelihood, housing and infrastructure projects.”
The seven figures in the upper left corner of the logo represent “unity and cooperation” of Sarangans despite diverse cultures, customs, ways of life, and religion.
Pacquiao said “the leading route demonstrates the goal-oriented leadership we hope to espouse”
