INSURANCE company AIA came in to support Philippines Football League (PFL) team Maharlika Manila Football Club.
Maharlika Manila, a second-year professional team, will be given a much-needed boost, according to the squad’s founder former national player Anton del Rosario,
Del Rosario said AIA support is not only for the current PFL season but also for the ongoing AIA 7s Football Tournament and the second staging of the AIA Vitality Kampeon Cup set October 14 to 16 in Bacolod City.
The AIA 7s Football Tournament is seven-a-side event that features teams in the men, women and youth divisions. More than 50 squads play in the event every Sunday at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig City.
The AIA Vitality Kampeon Cup is a national version of the AIA 7s Football Tournament where the best selection teams from Manila, Cebu, Pampanga, Iloilo, Bacolod and from either Davao or Muntinlupa will compete for the national championship.
“What AIA brings to the table is helping Maharlika with the operations, training and equipment and to allow the players to participate in the PFL and the 7s,” del Rosario said.
Maharlika Manila has teams competing in all divisions of the AIA 7s Football Tournament as well as the main PFL.
“AIA came in this season to build a stronger foundation for Maharlika Manila FC while building a community around each team,” del Rosario said. “Because of their help, we are looking to create a women’s league and youth academy.”
