AS part of its corporate citizenship initiatives, Therma Mobile, Inc. (TMO), together with Aboitiz Foundation Inc., donated nutrition packs to mothers and children of Barangay Acacia in Malabon City.
The packs contained selected healthy snacks for the kids and supplements that can support breastmilk production for lactating mothers and women with high-risk pregnancies.
“It is important for pregnant and lactating mothers to start consuming nutrient rich food as early as possible, as it also lessens the risk of malnutrition in the future,” said Malabon City Health Officer Edna Divina.
The turnover followed the barangay’s recent celebration of Nutrition Month, themed “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon,” in partnership with the Malabon City Health Office.
The health department conducted a series of seminars tackling community health and nutrition, proper diet and exercise, and safe pregnancy.
“We are glad to support the initiatives of Malabon City to promote health and wellness among its residents, most especially pregnant women and lactating mothers,” said Camille Midua, reputation senior specialist of TMO, a subsidiary of AboitizPower.
“We hope that these nutrition packs will be of great help in the nourishment and well being of many families in the city,” she added.
For their part, Barangay Captain Monching de Jesus expressed his gratitude to AboitizPower for being instrumental in supporting mothers and promoting health care in their community.
“We are thankful for this donation from AboitizPower. This is a big help especially for mothers who need support in taking care of their children,” he said.
Safe motherhood
STILL in line with the month-long celebration for nutrition, Therma Power Visayas Inc. (TPVI) also organized an activity which backed up the Barangay Nutrition Committee of Brgy. Colon in the City of Naga, Cebu.
TPVI held a “Buntis Congress” aimed at educating moms on safe motherhood, the significance of the baby’s first 1,000 days, and the importance of breastfeeding and complementary feeding.
In collaboration with the Aboitiz Foundation, it also provided nutrition packs to the participants.
