THE East Asia Super League (EASL) announced on Thursday plans to create a new training and development program for top youth players in Asia as part of its “Stars of Tomorrow” initiative. EASL is committed to contributing to development top youth basketball players and will launch elite training programs and competition with the support of top professional coaches and players in the 2023 offseason.
The programs will be designed to help youth players enhance their fundamental skills as well as learning the game from professionals’ perspectives, with on-court activities, including pro combine drills and team scrimmages in a tournament-style format.
Off the court, they will also participate in interactive educational sessions led by industry experts, such as current and former top players and coaches in the region as well as appearances from EASL National Basketball Association (NBA) ambassadors.
The holistic approach of the programs will enable participants to come out as more well-rounded individuals both on and off the court.
Top players and coaches throughout the region have also voiced their support as well as their desire to be involved as EASL has successful case studies for similar initiatives.
Previously, East Asia Super League has also hosted top-level coaching and refereeing clinics at previous events in collaboration with FIBA.
The training programs and games will take place in the off-season, taking into consideration youth players’ school schedules and professional players and coaches’ seasons.
The EASL is East Asia’s premier basketball league and entertainment experience, bringing together top men’s club teams together for the first time ever to compete in a home-and-away regional championship integrated into the schedules of their domestic seasons, elevating the sport in the region.
EASL’s inaugural home-and-away season pan-regional format tips off October 12.
