Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. prodded commanders to adhere to the principle of “servant leadership” by not only leading, but also in serving their men and the Filipinos as the command continued to implement and pursue its various security programs for the country.
The Army chief’s marching order formed part of the updated command guidance he issued on Wednesday to troops during the 2nd Philippine Army-wide Command Conference at Fort Bonifacio and through video conferencing.
“I would also like to remind everyone that the Army should be guided by Servant Leadership. As Commanders, we are expected to lead and serve them at the same time. This should remain as our driving force in winning wars and serving our people,” Brawner said.
The Army commanding general ordered every soldier to always maintain the “highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and meritocracy.”
“Let us maintain our focus and I expect everyone to do your share in our targeted successes. Let us truly serve to the best of our abilities,” he stressed.
During the conference, Brawner updated his comprehensive command guidance encapsulated in “SERVE,” which ensures the physical and mental health of soldiers, the Army’s most important resource; enhance individual soldier’s skills and unit capabilities; and push down much-needed resources to all units nationwide.
The Army chief said the thrusts would enable the Army to attain victory over remaining communist and local terrorist groups by the end of the year and pursue operational excellence.
Army major unit commanders, command group, general staff, personal staff, special staff, technical staff, functional commands, specialty enablers, and Army-wide support and separate unit commanders attended the conference physically.
Brigade commanders attended the event through video conferencing.
Brawner held the second command conference for the year to remind the 110,000-strong Philippine Army of the organization’s operational as well as administrative compliances.
He said the conference should also provide the platform for Army major unit commanders to voice out their issues and concerns to the headquarters’ Army leadership.
