Public school teachers are set to receive P5,000 cash allowance as “additional assistance” as schools open on Monday (August 22) for school year (SY) 2022-2023.
“Target release of P 5,000 cash allowance for teachers is within the first week of opening of classes,” said Atty. Michael Tan Poa, spokesperson of the Department of Education (DepEd).
“Ibababa po iyan sa, I think, mga [That will be released, I think in] school division. I’ll confirm but all teachers will be receiving the P5,000 cash ,” Poa said in a press briefing.
All systems go
Meanwhile, the DepEd said it’s all systems go for the opening of classes on Monday.
Poa said that as of 7 a.m. of August 19, enrollment reached over 27 million.
He said that 23.3 million have registered on regular enrollment and 4.1 million from early enrollment.
The number of enrollees, Poa said, is already 96 percent of DepEd’s target for this SY which is 28.6 million.
