RETAIL lender China Bank Savings (CBS) has joined the green financing campaign recently announcing it will provide auto financing to help transition consumers towards climate-friendly mobility.
CBS, the thrift bank arm of China Banking Corp., made the announcement during the road test of a self-charging electric sports utility vehicle (SUV). The SUV called “Kicks,” is expected to steer more Filipino car owners closer to sustainable driving. Nissan Motors Philippines Inc. launched “Kicks” last August 12.
The SUV is a 100-percent electric motor-driven system, using Nissan’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) technology. A gasoline engine charges the high-voltage battery pack when necessary for another model, “Leaf.”
The SUV was used on a 141-kilometer test drive from Manila Bay, Pasay City, to Tagaytay City last August 11.
“Climate-friendly business practices and eco-friendly mobility are among the long-term goals of the initiative of CBS China Bank Savings,” a statement read. “Promotion of financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and consumer confidence are needed to spur rapid economic recovery.”
